Communication From Aconcagua

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

It looks like I can’t get my SPOT messenger to update the main page for this blog, however there are a number of ways you can be notified of our progress on Aconcagua:

1) It is linked into my twitter account (@wanderlust_erik) so just follow me

2) That also posts to my Wanderlust Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/WanderlustVentures) so “like” that

3) For those who don’t use Facebook or Twitter, below the “Endure To Cure” Logo on the left side of this page, there are links to the latest tweets. You can click on the most recent one of those

4) You can also follow the webpage manually, at http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=0AVMODjTbvpaDIXqCPnD4akPZ2J2zCbTp. (I don’t recommend option #4, because if you do this, you’ll miss any blog posts that I’m able to make if internet access is available.)

That’s all for now. T-minus 4 days and counting!

Rainier, Aconcagua, etc

Friday, December 10th, 2010

I have been a very bad blogger. I’m sorry I haven’t been updating. Between school, the day job, opening papa johns, getting ready for Aconcagua, and a brand new project that I’ll tell y’all about in January – I have simply been completely swamped.

Anyway, I have lots to talk about. I have more thoughts on the Ironman, and some info on prepping for the Stone Sentinel. But, as per usual, I have little to no time. So, I’m hoping to update this blog over the weekend, but in the meantime, here is an awesome video one of the guys on the Rainier climb made. Brings back all sorts of memories, and is getting me ridiculously excited for Aconcagua which is in 8 days….

live and learn

Friday, November 12th, 2010

Apparently Delta charges $200 to check a bike box. Who knew? I certainly didn’t.

Anyway, word of caution for anyone who thinks about checking a bike. Shipping is much cheaper.

Must….Taper…….

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

It’s crazy – after complaining for weeks about how busted up I am from training – now that I have to taper all I want to do is go run. Part of it is that I am absolutely addicted to exercise as a way to relieve stress – and am under a lot of stress right now.

I’ve got about a week and a half left until the ironman – and I can’t wait. I’m starting to worry about some of the logistics (getting my bike there, etc.) but all in all I feel great and am ready to go. Nothing but light exercise from here on out.

I’ll let you all know how it goes, of course.

Plans continue for Aconcagua as well. We’re trying to lock in flights, exactly who’s going, and all the myriad logistics that go into something like this. Still hoping for 4 people, but right now it looks like it will be a 3-man crew. Getting very excited.
